Welcome to this detailed solution of Problem 6.6 from David J. Griffiths' Introduction to Quantum Mechanics (2nd Edition). In this video, we'll walk through the problem step by step, exploring the orthogonality of unperturbed states, matrix elements of the perturbation Hamiltonian, and energy shifts.
Problem Statement:
Let the two "good" unperturbed states be:
ψ₀₊ = α₊ψₐ₀ + β₊ψ_b₀,
where α₊ and β₊ are determined (up to normalization) by Equation 6.22 (or Equati...

    Assalam o alaikum sir! Sir if the material we have used for is amorphous and have indirect allowed transition so it is compulsory to plot energy vs 1/2?as 1/2 is for indirect

    • @SAYPhysics
      @SAYPhysics 3 дня назад

      Wa Alaikum Assalam! Yes, for an amorphous material with an indirect allowed transition, it is important to plot \((\alpha h u)^{1/2}\) versus energy (\(h u\)) to determine the band gap accurately. This approach corresponds to the characteristic absorption edge of indirect transitions. Thanks

    Sir I really have doubt about the accuracy of the current method due to the following reasons: 1. The crystalline peak regions manually marked may not represent the exact crystalline areas. So better to use peak fitting. 2. Sum of crystalline areas could be equal to the total area of the plot leading to almost 100% crystallinity for a semi-crystalline material. Similar results were observed by me during the similar calculations done by me. 3. Why not to initially subtract the amorphous area from the plot as the considered crystalline area specially in amorphous sample seems inaccurate. Could you please provide a reference for the current adopted method? I would appreciate your valuable comments. Thanks in advance

    • @SAYPhysics
      @SAYPhysics 5 дней назад

      Thank you for your detailed feedback. You raise valid points about the accuracy of the manual marking of crystalline regions and the importance of peak fitting to avoid overestimating crystallinity. Subtracting the amorphous area first is indeed a more accurate approach. However, this is the usual way of calculation. While it's better to consider your suggestions and provide a reference for the method used in. Thanks again!

However if we had an equation, it would be different approach because if i had an equation in temrs of E.....so E**2 would be a whole different equation and (E)**2 would be awhole different equation its like saying (-2**2) which is -4 and (-2)**2 which is 4

    hello sir!after baseline correction,the xrd graph and ftir graph will be more smooth.However,after that,the former y value(intensity or the transmittance) will change.will that influence the analysis?

    • @SAYPhysics
      @SAYPhysics 9 дней назад

      Thank you for your question! After baseline correction, the y-values (intensity or transmittance) can indeed change slightly. However, this adjustment is typically necessary to remove any background noise, ensuring that the data more accurately reflects the true signal. The changes in y-values shouldn't significantly affect the analysis as long as the baseline correction is done correctly. The corrected data should provide a clearer representation of the underlying features you're interested in. It's recommended to plot both actual and smoothed profiles.

    Thank you for vedio. What are the acceptable values for reliability factors (Rp, Gof, etc.) if Rwp is 8, or should it be below 5?

    • @SAYPhysics
      @SAYPhysics 10 дней назад

      Thank you for your comment! Generally, acceptable values for reliability factors like Rp, Rwp, and Gof can vary depending on the complexity of the sample and the quality of the data. An Rwp value around 8% can still be acceptable, especially if the data is complex. However, lower values (below 5%) are generally preferred for higher precision. It’s important to consider other factors like the goodness-of-fit (Gof) and the visual quality of the fit when evaluating the refinement.

      @@SAYPhysics Sar you are doing so great in RUclips but please upload the lectures of BS physics electricity and Magnetism course because you are uploading or you have uploaded the lectures of electrodynamics but not the lectures of electricity and Magnetism because for BS physics to understand electrodynamics carefully he or she should have understood the concepts of electricity and Magnetism first

    Thanks for your very helpful video. I cannot find the website for downloading the WinXPO. Do you have its link? is it free? I am a student. Thanks.

      Thanks for the appreciation dear 😊 Here's the website for WinXPow, however, it's not free. stoe-winxpow.software.informer.com/ In case you would like to perform XRD data analysis for free, I have the following playlist of tutorials based on GSAS-II. hello sir,what the baseline will improve and why should we do a baseline correction?

    • @SAYPhysics
      @SAYPhysics 16 дней назад

      Baseline correction in X-ray diffraction (XRD) data is important because it removes background noise and artifacts, which can obscure or distort the true diffraction peaks. This correction enhances the accuracy and reliability of the analysis by ensuring that peak intensities and positions are correctly identified, leading to more precise characterization of the material's crystal structure and phase composition. Thanks

    Dear respected professor. May I ask about how much time do you put in preparation for each video? I ask this question becasue first, I am curious, and second, because I aspire to be a physics professor in future. I hope you may have time to consider my question. With all respect

    • @SAYPhysics
      @SAYPhysics 18 дней назад

      Usually the time is 3X the actual recording. Recording+Editing+Sharing. The lecture preparation time isn't included in it. Good luck for your ambitious. Thanks
